Communication & Language

Communication is a fundamental human right. Every child deserves to have their voice heard, whether that voice is expressed through verbal speech, sign language, or Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems.

Our approach to communication is comprehensive and honors the child’s unique communication style; we focus on functional communication that allows your child to advocate for their needs, express their thoughts, and connect deeply with the people around them.

We start by assessing your child’s current communication strengths and identifying the best avenues to expand their expressive and receptive language abilities. This might involve supporting verbal language development, introducing AAC tools like picture boards or speech-generating devices, or teaching non-verbal communication skills.

We work to ensure that your child’s communication is functional, meaning it works for them in their daily life, helping them make choices, express emotions, and engage in social interactions.

We involve families in this process, providing the training and support needed to encourage communication throughout the day.
